Used by Voltaire for the heroine of his tragic play 'Zaïre' (1732), about a Christian woman enslaved by Muslims. The heroine is named Zara in some English translations. Voltaire may have based the name on <a href="details.php?no=&n=ZAHRAH">ZAHRAH</a>.
