Latinized form of the Greek name Γαιανη (Gaiane), a derivative of <a href="details.php?no=&n=GAIA">GAIA</a>. This was the name of a (perhaps fictional) martyr who was killed in Armenia during the persecutions of emperor Diocletian in the late 3rd century.
