From עַשְׁתֹרֶת ('Ashtoret), the Hebrew form of the name of a Phoenician goddess of love, war and fertility. Her name is cognate to that of the Babylonian goddess <a href="details.php?no=&n=ISHTAR">ISHTAR</a>.
